History
Capiz is located on a small island formed by the Panay and Banica rivers. The soil is poor in the northern part of the island and is most productive only in the southern part. It is bouneded by the Mindoro sea, the Panay, Loctugan and Ivisan rivers. The total land mass of Capiz is 2,639 sq. kms. And has a 473 barangays. Captivating Capiz is very important so that people will understand "What,Where, and How" Capiz is.
The types of people known to have inhabited Capiz. Pygmies popularly known as Aetas or negritos; Indonesians descendants of the Mundo tribe in central Panay; and the Malays.
The early history of Capiz is closely associated with that of Aklan. Both were called Aklan under Datu Bankaya who, with ten other datus from Borneo settled in Panay in the 13th century. Aklan was ruled by the descendants of Bankaya until the Spaniards arrived in 1569. Miguel Lopez de Legaspi is reported to have established a settlement in Capiz and made it an independent encomienda.
The separation of Aklan from Capiz took place in 1956. Today Capiz is a prosperous province with an oversupply of rice, enough sugar production, and more than enough fish harvested from its 80-kilometer coastline. Most of the inhabitants speak Hiligaynon, a kind of Visayan with a distinct accent.
Capiz is known for a popular local myth of Aswang, a generic name for ghouls, monsters and witches. Capiz is known for its mother-of-pearl shells.

Legaspi Street is located in Roxas City,Capiz is well known as the sea food capital of the Philippines. Capiz is the center of copra and aquaculture production. There are also lots of prducts in Capiz such as sugarcane, rice, coconut, fruit, shremp, and tobacco. The language spoken in Roxas City is Hiligaynon, otherwise known as Ilonggo. The kinds of transportation we use in Roxas City are Tricycle, jeep, multicub, bus, and also little boats called “Pumpbot”.
The current Governor of Capiz is Gov. Vic Tangco and the Vice Governor is Vice Gov. Felipe Barredo. The Mayor of Roxas city is Mayor Vicente Bermejo ant the Vice Mayor is Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.

It is celebrated on December 4-8 to commemorate the Feast of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception. If showcases a variety of civic, cultural and religious activities that embody the true Capizeño spirit.
The tribal competition which takes on seafood as its theme is also a colorful display of Capiznon talent. During this contest the streets fill up with energetic dancers in bright and innovative seafood costumes. Some come as mythical sea creatures and dance to the inviting rhythm of drums and bamboo instruments.
